Eric Kinny presents Happy Fuji News

Eric Kinny (he/him) is an artist based in Brussels, developing a performative approach to filmmaking closely tied with his woodcut practice. When he is not busy touring with his first woodcut movie, “Happy Fuji News” (2022), he spends his time promoting the numerous Country & Western labels he distributes through his label, Santé Loisirs.

Happy Fuji News is a live-animated performed movie made out of 200-300 woodblock prints, written, carved, and printed by Eric Kinny from 2016 to 2022.

Prints are shown and thrown at the rhythm of an audio soundtrack with MIDI guitar music by Raphaël Desmarets, sound effects, and voice acting by

Synopsis:

A touristic guide escapes commercial hardship at the foothill of Japan’s Mt. Fuji through the chance meeting of an ASMR artist.
With an equally comedic and dramatic approach, Happy Fuji News is a surrealistic dive into the world of tourism, apps, geology (and more..) done in a joyously performed proto-cinematic way.

Dj Sloush aka Spitz + Zarrt – DJ set

Sigourney Pilz and Thomas Fornoff are a Berlin-based artist duo that has been working under different aliases in solo, duos, or collectives since 2011. They are sound artists, part of Cashmere Radio, curators, event organizers, performers, and multimedia artists.

Their mixes navigate between adventurous freeform sound collages and cutting-edge club abstractions in different contexts.

In addition to DJ sets, they experiment with forms of artistic research in natural and affective sciences in the sound field.

Field recordings, sounds, and music serve as their language, inviting the listeners to take on different perspectives and consciousness-expanding states. Some examples are a mushroom walk, world of microbes, mud, echolocation, mountains…

With a background in movie and theater work, scenery and storytelling, the exploration of different ways to create an environmentwhere people can connect with the ecosystems around them has become an essential part of their artistic practice.
